Please send your business advertising copy to the Corporate Secretary.

Hiking
Trails
We all know that the Lake Tallavana community is a
treasure of natural beauty and wildlife. But did you also know that
our community (the Tallavana Homeowners' Association) owns approximately 45 acres of untouched preserve area?
The red areas on the map to the
right shows the approximate location of the property. Click on
the map to see an enlarged image of this map.
The 30 acre
Sheffield Preserve and the 5 acre Oswald Point both located at the north end of the lake at the end of Hickory Lane.
They are comprised of a beautiful mixed forest of uplands and wetlands with large trees and Hurricane creek meandering through the property.
The other property is approximately 10 acres located where the sediment pond is located at D8. It is a near pristine and rare beech
magnolia ravine that actually has a small waterfall at one boundary.
Years ago we attempted to cut some walking trails through the property.
We ran into a snag trying to obtain Federal grant money to build a bridge across Hurricane Creek and our momentum was lost. I believe we
can find a simpler solution to crossing the creek. I believe we can interest a boy scout troop looking to earn merit badges to help with the
actual blazing of the trail. I’m hoping that interested community members will get involved with the planning of the trails.
We wouldn’t begin any trail blazing until the weather cools. Call Diane at 539-6544 if you would like to be involved.
